Best bang for the buck drip coffee makers 2015

Since automatic drip coffee makers have been invented, they have literally never stopped selling. After all, they are easy to use, and brew a usually acceptable coffee (much better than instant, dissoluble coffee – at the very least). The mechanism behind these machines is quite simple: after you load the paper filter and coffee grounds, the machine heats the water up to the boiling point, and makes it drip over the grounds, absorbing the flavor before dripping into the carafe.

Nowadays, though the process remains roughly the same, many machines have been built with extra additional features which makes them more convenient, and here I have picked the best drip coffee makers. I think you might appreciate these reviews. On the other side, if you’re looking for an espresso machine, I suggest you to check out our list of the best espresso machines on the market.

Bonavita BV1800TH 8-Cup Coffee Maker with Thermal Carafe

Bonavita drip coffee makerComing in at a relatively higher cost than all the other machines, but still quite affordable, the Bonavita BV1800TH is a great investment. I do admit it has this retro look (which can be very appealing to some) but it can get the job done perfectly. It has a thermal carafe which aids the machine in keeping the coffee hot, even hours after it’s been brewed; and a shower head dripper that has been designed for optimal extraction of flavor and aroma.

While it does not have any of the automated features of the other more modern machines, this one focuses more on speed and efficiency: while the other machines take 10 minutes to warm up and brew, only 5 or 6 are needed here. There are no control panels nor LCD screens here – just the good old on/off switch; after all, superfluous features are nice to have, but having an awesome up of coffee is better. Overall, this is the one that I recommend the most. The efficiency is priceless, especially if you add up all the minutes that you save for a whole year

Cuisinart DCC-2600 Brew Central 14-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker with Glass Carafe

Cuisinart drip coffee makerWith its intuitive front control panel which gives you full control of the coffee maker, the Cuisinart DCC-2600 takes one of the top spots. It has a sleek geometric design which successfully makes it look and feel very compact. It features a graded compartment for the water (which uses a charcoal filter which can be removed for those using purified water directly) that allows you to pour the exact amount of water you need depending on how many cups of coffee you want to brew – and the large lass carafe can fit up to 14 cups.

Additional great features include the “bold” brew for a stronger coffee, and the “1-4” cups option which I frequently make use of when i need just a few super strong cups of joe for myself. It also features an adjustable temperature plate and an auto- on/off feature to maximize energy saving and time management.

Black and Decker CM2035B 12-Cup Thermal Coffeemaker

Black and decker drip coffee makerAt such an affordable price, Black and Decker totally outdid themselves with the Black and Decker CM2035B 12-Cup Thermal Coffeemaker. The amount of features and its futuristic design are just amazing. It has all I look for in a drip coffee making machine, such as: a large carafe to hold up to 12 cups, auto on and off, favorite programs can be saved, and the “sneak a cup” feature, for when I’m in a hurry and cannot wait for the whole carafe to be filled; and of course, the “1-4 cups” option for a stronger brew.

I only had a little problem with this machine, and it happened after a power outage. Apparently this coffee maker has no internal battery – and I found that all my programmed favorite brews had been erased when the lights came back on. Not a big deal, but I just wanted to inform you beforehand.

Cuisinart DCC-2650 Brew Central 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker

Cuisinart Programmable coffee makerThe Cuisinart DCC-2650 is just like the previous Cuisinart brewing machine reviewed here, with a few subtle differences. The two machines look exactly the same, but this one has a maximum capacity of 12 cups compared to 14 of the previous machine. There are improvements however in terms of speed and efficiency: this machine brews coffee a few minutes faster, and can be programmed to prepare your hot coffee even 24 hours in advance. Other features which are shared with its predecessor are its capability to brew 3 different temperature of coffee (Low, Medium, and High), its auto cleaning procedure, the two strengths of the coffee, and the “1-4 cups” option for an ever bolder taste.

Because the brewing process can be interrupted and resumed afterwards, the pause button allows you to grab a cup whenever you feel like, even before the process is done. Keep in mind that though the carafe is very resistant, it is still made of glass – but don’t worry as there are lots of replacements available.
